Weekend of Festivals

This past weekend we attended two festivals. Long days but we met some great people and got a lot of support from the public.

On Saturday we were at the Winter Jubilee hosted by Beer Summit. According to the staff, there were close to 2000 people who attended each session. At the fist session, we were pouring the Blessing, which was a crowd favorite. We managed to go through a keg of it in one session. This was supposed to last us for the majority of the night! The honey was put on in its place and although some people were taken aback by the difference between the two beers, overall everyone responded well to the beer and nearly kicked that keg as well. Thanks for making this a great festival for us!

Sunday was a different animal. We appeared at the Connecticut Real Ale Festival at the Bru Rm in New Haven. At this event, we were pouring our Cask conditioned Honey Ale that was dry-hopped with Nugget. Due to the long ride and the use of A LOT of hops, the beer didn't pour as though I wanted it to, but it managed to find its fans and people really enjoyed it. Many thanks go out to this festival. I want to thank Jim Brown for making my day great! He introduced me to everyone and he is pushing for us to be in Connecticut. The brewers and staff at the Bru Rm for lending a helping hand. Julie for helping me out and spending the day with me. I look forward to attending the Real Ale festival in September.

Busy Week Up Ahead

Next week is going to be a busy week for Rapscallion... On Monday we will be filtering our current batch of Rapscallion Honey and kegging it on Tuesday. Thursday and Friday we will brewing another 30Bbl (930 Gallons). This batch will be ready for kegging in approximately three-weeks.

What's Fermenting

Currently we have our flagship Rapscallion Honey in its final stages of fermentation. In fact, this beer will be kegged next Tuesday and will be at your local watering holes over the next few weeks.

The Rapscallion Honey is an Extra Pale Ale that is brewed with locally grown honey. We shoot for around 4.8% ABV with 18 IBU's. The current batch came in at 4.5% due to the colder weather causing the fermenter to cool faster than expected. We use Nugget as our bittering hop and Cascade as our aroma hops.
